What is a sworn translation in France?

In France, an official translation is produced by a traducteur expert près une cour d’appel. These sworn translators are registered on the list of experts kept by a Court of Appeal – in Paris, the Cour d’appel de Paris. In practice, a sworn translation done by an expert from any French Court of Appeal is valid throughout the country.
